Steve Mazer was admitted to the New Mexico Bar in 1973 and has practiced and been recognized as a Certified Legal Specialist in consumer bankruptcy law for more than forty years. Steve has been practicing before the Bankruptcy Court since 1974 and his current practice covers the whole State.

Steve served as a Chapter 7 Trustee for 20 years and as Standing Trustee for Chapters 12 and 13 for twelve years. He is a two time recipient of the New Mexico State Bar Outstanding Contribution Award (1994 and 1996), and in 2005 he received the Robert H. LaFollette Pro Bono Award.

Steve is well-known in the New Mexico bankruptcy bar. He has lectured on bankruptcy topics for the American Bankruptcy Institute, National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, the National Association of States Tax Bankruptcy Attorneys, the University of New Mexico School of Law, and several local Bar Associations.

Steve is a past Secretary to the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar and a past officer and director of the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees. He is a member of the New Mexico State Bar, the Albuquerque Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees.

Steve majored in history at Grove City College and graduated with High Honors before graduating from Rutgers Law School. He has actively coached basketball, soccer and little league and was both a referee for soccer and an umpire for little league.
